The format of the book is pretty cool. It follows Matty's life through food. I'll admit that being non seafood lover, seeing the first section almost exclusively seafood scared me a bit. But then I saw balogna and was hooked!
First time I watched a cooking video from him was about lasagne you can tell that was the best lasagna you would ever have I love this guy his personality and his talent and passion for cooking and food Amazing book and recipes you can actually make at home without being a chef
I remember Oddfellows fondly (if just barely), and have eaten at LSB countless times during Matty's tenure, and have been a fan of his youtube shenanigans for years - so when I heard he had a cookbook coming out I said 'chess bah!' Imagine my surprise when I counted nary a swear word and found myself engrossed in Matty's thoughtful reflections on growing up punk, his extended family and evolution as a cook (and troublemaker). Reading the background for each section and recipe is almost as enjoyable as drooling over the photos, or - *gasp* - actually cooking the recipes. We've made 5 so far and all have turned out fantastic. Matty puts a unique spin on classic recipes and modern favourites - a real feat in the age of the amateur youtube cooking zeitgeist.
